Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.72% or 4.240 points to trade at 94.140 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.89% or 1.40 points to end at 158.80 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 0.54% or 0.28 points to 51.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 3.08% or 0.41 points to trade at 12.91 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.52% or 0.68 points to end at 44.06 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 1.46% or 0.188 points to 12.672.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 40 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.50 to $1218.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.75% or 1.20 to hit $69.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 0.87 to trade at $74.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1561, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8932.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.16.
