Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 6.61% or 2.72 points to trade at 43.90 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 2.20% or 1.10 points to end at 51.10 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) was up 1.80% or 1.40 points to 79.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 2.23% or 0.30 points to trade at 13.17 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.99% or 0.28 points to end at 13.54 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.16% or 0.760 points to 65.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 51 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 5.80 to $1217.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.76% or 1.21 to hit $67.55 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.68 to trade at $72.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1665, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8892.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 94.46.
