Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.54% or 2.600 points to trade at 76.040 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.21% or 0.52 points to end at 42.90 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 0.78% or 0.27 points to 34.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 1.71% or 0.44 points to trade at 25.27 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.52% or 0.43 points to end at 28.26 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 0.75% or 0.315 points to 41.695.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 56 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1247.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.89% or 0.51 to hit $57.87 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.18 to trade at $64.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1797, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.8836.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.78.
