Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 2.49% or 3.60 points to trade at 148.40 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 2.22% or 1.38 points to end at 63.44 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 2.07% or 0.72 points to 35.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 2.28% or 0.90 points to trade at 38.38 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.16% or 1.710 points to end at 77.570 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.17% or 0.33 points to 27.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 54 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.75% or 9.58 to $1291.28 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.48% or 0.84 to hit $57.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.41 to trade at $62.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1795, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 93.39.
