Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.49% or 0.40 points to trade at 27.20 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.21% or 0.17 points to end at 14.66 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.86% or 0.58 points to 68.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 2.85% or 1.29 points to trade at 43.97 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 2.27% or 1.04 points to end at 44.76 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.59% or 0.540 points to 91.720.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 47 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.04% or 0.60 to $1334.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.93% or 0.60 to hit $63.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 1.05 to trade at $69.21 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.2238, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8885.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 90.39.
