Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 2.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 4.54% or 1.28 points to trade at 29.56 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.24% or 1.910 points to end at 47.000 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) was up 4.09% or 0.408 points to 10.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (BR:ELI), which added 1.04% or 0.495 points to trade at 48.260 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.25% or 1.30 points to end at 105.70 and UCB (BR:UCB) gained 1.62% or 1.03 points to 64.63.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 20 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.44% or 5.65 to $1289.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.64% or 1.28 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.68% or 1.32 to trade at $50.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1311, while EUR/GBP fell 1.85% to 0.7708.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 93.76.
