Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 2.13% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 9.16% or 3.83 points to trade at 45.60 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 4.67% or 6.10 points to end at 136.60 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 3.49% or 0.70 points to 20.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which added 0.06% or 0.01 points to trade at 23.46 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 0.09% or 0.03 points to end at 27.78 and Elia (BR:ELI) gained 0.33% or 0.160 points to 48.565.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 26 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.51% or 6.35 to $1247.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $56.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.0570, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 101.55.
