Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 5.23% or 2.520 points to trade at 50.720 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.70% or 1.63 points to end at 97.32 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.60% or 1.75 points to 110.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 1.62% or 0.525 points to trade at 31.875 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.68% or 0.325 points to end at 47.645 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) gained 0.02% or 0.01 points to 41.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.05 to $1352.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.65% or 1.94 to hit $43.65 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 4.63% or 2.04 to trade at $46.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1166, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8614.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.64.
