Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 2.25% or 2.25 points to trade at 102.35 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 1.86% or 2.15 points to end at 117.45 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.68% or 0.66 points to 40.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 4.44% or 2.690 points to trade at 57.950 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 0.94% or 0.48 points to end at 50.77 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.28% or 0.030 points to 10.800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 42 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.45% or 5.95 to $1324.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.57% or 0.70 to hit $45.37 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 0.88 to trade at $47.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1204, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8615.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.52.
