Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 1.58% or 1.040 points to trade at 66.820 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.33% or 0.79 points to end at 60.04 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.01% or 0.33 points to 32.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 1.67% or 1.80 points to trade at 106.30 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 0.82% or 0.47 points to end at 56.93 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.58% or 0.28 points to 48.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 57 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.40% or 5.09 to $1256.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.27% or 0.14 to hit $51.27 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $53.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1199, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8625.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 97.13.
