Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.69% or 0.35 points to trade at 21.42 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.17% or 0.70 points to end at 60.61 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.08% or 1.60 points to 150.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 1.45% or 0.88 points to trade at 59.73 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.09% or 0.730 points to end at 66.390 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.61% or 0.28 points to 44.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 41 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.19 to $1211.89 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.66% or 0.29 to hit $44.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.30 to trade at $47.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1399, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8850.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 95.82.
