Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.73% or 1.600 points to trade at 60.220 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.72% or 0.92 points to end at 54.38 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 1.50% or 0.35 points to 23.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 2.35% or 0.70 points to trade at 29.25 in late trade. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.77% or 0.90 points to end at 115.80 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.74% or 0.080 points to 10.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 74 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1318.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.25% or 0.11 to hit $43.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.09 to trade at $45.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1167, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8609.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.91.
