Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.89% or 1.540 points to trade at 82.990 at the close. Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) added 1.27% or 1.08 points to end at 86.37 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.77% or 0.56 points to 73.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 0.80% or 0.43 points to trade at 53.31 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 0.65% or 0.75 points to end at 114.10 and Aperam (AS:APAM) shed 0.43% or 0.20 points to 46.49.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 64 to 50 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.55 to $1257.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.69% or 0.85 to hit $51.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.04 to trade at $54.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.0662, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 100.49.
