Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which rose 6.22% or 4.10 points to trade at 70.00 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 3.19% or 0.36 points to end at 11.80 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 2.78% or 2.00 points to 73.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET), which lost 6.24% or 2.86 points to trade at 42.98 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.27% or 0.29 points to end at 22.52 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 0.30% or 0.04 points to 13.41.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 16 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 6.00 to $1216.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.32% or 0.21 to hit $66.39 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.37 to trade at $76.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.64% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.89.
