Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 3.27% or 1.15 points to trade at 36.30 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 3.01% or 2.640 points to end at 90.400 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 2.71% or 0.49 points to 18.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET), which lost 1.12% or 0.48 points to trade at 42.20 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.83% or 0.20 points to end at 23.79 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.03% or 0.02 points to 63.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 38 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.36% or 4.65 to $1285.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.43% or 1.18 to hit $49.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.29 to trade at $58.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1446, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.9004.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 95.482.
