Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.92% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.96% or 1.12 points to trade at 38.97 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 2.37% or 0.298 points to end at 12.882 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.88% or 1.220 points to 66.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 2.02% or 0.41 points to trade at 19.90 in late trade. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) declined 0.72% or 0.60 points to end at 82.50 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.70% or 0.10 points to 13.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 46 and 26 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1225.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.43% or 0.97 to hit $68.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.77 to trade at $73.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1686, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8893.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.38.
