Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.25% or 3.060 points to trade at 97.200 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 2.27% or 3.60 points to end at 162.40 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 2.00% or 0.88 points to 44.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 0.50% or 0.26 points to trade at 51.44 in late trade. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) declined 0.18% or 0.20 points to end at 111.80 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.17% or 0.022 points to 12.650.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 40 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 2.00 to $1219.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.38% or 0.26 to hit $69.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.66 to trade at $74.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1593, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 94.99.
