Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which rose 5.96% or 4.60 points to trade at 81.80 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 2.31% or 1.08 points to end at 47.84 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 1.06% or 0.116 points to 11.040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 3.97% or 1.98 points to trade at 47.90 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 2.01% or 3.40 points to end at 165.60 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.67% or 0.54 points to 80.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 45 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 7.70 to $1200.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.96% or 0.66 to hit $69.25 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.23 to trade at $78.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1646, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 94.84.
