Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 8.90% or 3.78 points to trade at 46.25 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 2.38% or 0.48 points to end at 20.66 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 1.47% or 1.38 points to 95.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 6.61% or 4.30 points to trade at 60.78 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 5.87% or 3.15 points to end at 50.55 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 2.93% or 1.22 points to 40.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 33 and 24 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.90 to $1317.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $67.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.31 to trade at $74.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.2115, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 91.31.
