Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (BR:SOF), which rose 1.58% or 1.95 points to trade at 125.70 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.44% or 0.84 points to end at 59.32 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.21% or 1.70 points to 141.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 0.90% or 0.38 points to trade at 41.26 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.44% or 0.13 points to end at 29.19 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.30% or 0.04 points to 14.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 54 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.41 to $1351.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.04% or 1.00 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.35 to trade at $54.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.2035, while EUR/GBP fell 0.64% to 0.9118.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 91.30.
