Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 1.74% or 1.90 points to trade at 110.80 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.21% or 1.100 points to end at 92.080 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.12% or 1.60 points to 144.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 2.65% or 1.25 points to trade at 45.95 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 2.33% or 1.35 points to end at 56.60 and Sofina (BR:SOF) shed 0.87% or 1.20 points to 136.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 52 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.53% or 20.40 to $1350.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.32% or 0.19 to hit $59.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.29 to trade at $63.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.2401, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8881.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 89.22.
