Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which rose 3.69% or 2.80 points to trade at 78.70 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 2.52% or 1.28 points to end at 52.06 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.78% or 1.90 points to 108.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which lost 1.17% or 0.146 points to trade at 12.354 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.16% or 0.30 points to end at 25.62 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.69% or 0.460 points to 65.900.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 45 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.97% or 12.00 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $67.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.34 to trade at $72.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1661, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8872.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 94.72.
