Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 2.15% or 0.99 points to trade at 47.09 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 0.97% or 0.25 points to end at 26.10 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.88% or 0.640 points to 73.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 1.61% or 0.70 points to trade at 42.80 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.99% or 0.66 points to end at 65.90 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.64% or 0.16 points to 24.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 47 and 26 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1330.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.32% or 0.20 to hit $61.59 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $65.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.2314, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8829.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 89.83.
