Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.20% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.68% or 1.01 points to trade at 61.26 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 1.40% or 0.53 points to end at 38.47 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.73% or 0.295 points to 40.465 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 1.77% or 2.25 points to trade at 124.60 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 1.35% or 1.75 points to end at 128.25 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.13% or 0.34 points to 30.27.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 57 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.17% or 15.22 to $1287.78 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.89% or 0.46 to hit $51.41 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.48 to trade at $57.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1751, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 93.49.
