Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 3.11% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.41 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.22% or 0.970 points to end at 80.770 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.92% or 0.27 points to 29.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 1.80% or 1.01 points to trade at 54.99 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.88% or 1.10 points to end at 124.20 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 0.78% or 1.10 points to 140.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 47 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.65 to $1343.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.70 to trade at $54.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1940, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.9142.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 92.02.
