Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 0.89% or 0.126 points to trade at 14.316 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 0.82% or 0.36 points to end at 44.45 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.70% or 1.00 points to 143.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 6.21% or 1.46 points to trade at 22.04 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.99% or 0.820 points to end at 81.640 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 0.70% or 0.29 points to 41.28.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 42 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.32% or 17.40 to $1337.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.30% or 0.19 to hit $62.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $65.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.2403, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.8938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.59.
