Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.06% or 0.45 points to trade at 42.41 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.75% or 0.44 points to end at 59.07 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.56% or 0.37 points to 66.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 2.03% or 0.47 points to trade at 22.95 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 1.58% or 0.95 points to end at 59.00 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.62% or 0.400 points to 63.820.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 48 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.24% or 3.06 to $1261.64 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $52.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1740, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.9044.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 93.59.
