Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.70% or 0.38 points to trade at 14.44 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.98% or 0.59 points to end at 60.75 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 0.50% or 0.23 points to 45.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 1.31% or 0.52 points to trade at 38.85 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.95% or 0.23 points to end at 23.99 and Sofina (BR:SOF) shed 0.50% or 0.65 points to 130.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 51 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 4.50 to $1289.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.17 to trade at $56.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1845, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8968.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 92.91.
