Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.40% or 1.38 points to trade at 41.96 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) added 3.11% or 0.58 points to end at 19.25 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 2.71% or 0.54 points to 20.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 1.76% or 1.90 points to trade at 105.80 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.48% or 1.180 points to end at 78.760 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 1.15% or 0.15 points to 12.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 50 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.48% or 6.00 to $1259.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.18 to trade at $77.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1663, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8818.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.25.
