Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.34% or 1.00 points to trade at 43.93 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.39% or 0.81 points to end at 58.90 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.06% or 0.70 points to 66.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.39% or 1.100 points to trade at 77.880 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 0.82% or 0.95 points to end at 114.95 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.73% or 0.10 points to 14.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 33 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.50 to $1312.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.36% or 0.22 to hit $60.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.49 to trade at $66.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.2048, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8863.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 91.61.
