Azure Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZS) has completed the next exploration stage at the 100%-owned Barton Gold Project in the world-class Kookynie-Leonora-Laverton gold province of Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields.

This stage consisted of a 35-hole, 4,039-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program that targeted three areas considered prospective for hosting gold mineralisation – Daisy Corner, Daisy West and Trevan Well.

Three targets

At Daisy Corner, there were 16 RC holes drilled for 1,827 metres. Previous RC drilling by Azure in early 2022 returned several anomalous gold intersections, including 24 metres at 1.07 g/t gold from 35 metres.

This prospect covers potential northern extensions of gold mineralisation drilled by Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) at the 232,000-ounce Puzzle North Project which abuts the southern tenement boundary of Azure’s E40/393 tenement.

Azure drilled eight holes for 1,086 metres at Daisy West, which is about 1 kilometre west of Daisy Corner.

No previous drilling has been undertaken at this soil-covered, conceptual structural target of cross-cutting shear zones associated with a granite-greenstone contact.

There were 11 holes for 1,126 metres drilled at Travan Well where an extensive surface sampling program identified gold anomalism associated with altered and quartz-veined weathered rock. Several small historical mine workings are present.

Awaiting assays

All holes in this program have been sampled and Azure is awaiting assay results.

Azure holds nine tenements covering 888 square kilometres within the gold-rich Kookynie-Leonora-Laverton district and its southern extensions.

This holding comprises three granted Exploration Licences totalling 359 square kilometres and six Exploration Licence Applications totalling 529 square kilometres.

For the latter, Azure is the sole applicant and these tenements are in the granting process.

In golden area

This land package covers a contiguous 88 kilometres of north-south strike length of the Kookynie-Leonora geological sequence.

There are numerous historical gold mines and several large and still-growing gold development projects close to Azure’s projects.

They include Genesis Minerals' Ulysses Project and Dacian Gold's Mt Morgans Project with combined gold resources of 4.2 million ounces.

Also nearby is Saturn Metals' Apollo Hill Project with total gold resources of 1.5 million ounces.
