Australian Vanadium secures approval for amended processing plant development plans

Australian Vanadium Ltd (ASX:AVL) has successfully secured approval for a scheme amendment for the Tenindewa vanadium processing plant site, from the City of Greater Geraldton at its April Council Meeting.

The approval marks another step forward in the development application process, which is managed by the Strategic Development Assessment Unit (SDAU) of the Department of Lands and Heritage (DPLH).

“The support of the council to progress the land use for our processing plant provides another key step for the Australian Vanadium Project’s development,” Australian Vanadium CEO Graham Arvidson said.

AVL mining and processing operation

Australian Vanadium is building an onshore fully integrated vanadium value chain from resource to steel and energy storage, beginning with its vanadium project at Gabanintha, through its proposed processing plant south of Meekatharra and a concentrate processing plant near the port city of Geraldton at Tenindewa.

The project will produce a vanadium concentrate at the resource site and complete production of a high purity vanadium oxide for the steel, titanium master-alloy and energy storage markets, as well as an iron titanium (FeTi) coproduct for export through Geraldton, at its planned processing plant.

The beneficiated product will then go to offtake partners and feed AVL’s 100%-owned subsidiary, VSUN, a renewable energy and energy storage company focused on developing the Australian market for vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB) for long duration energy storage.
