Investing.com – Australia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Resources, Energy and Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Greencross Ltd (AX:GXL), which rose 6.19% or 0.250 points to trade at 4.290 at the close. Blackmores Ltd (AX:BKL) added 5.51% or 7.15 points to end at 136.98 and Nanosonics Ltd (AX:NAN) was up 5.18% or 0.130 points to 2.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orocobre Ltd (AX:ORE), which lost 4.66% or 0.280 points to trade at 5.730 in late trade. Syrah Resources Ltd (AX:SYR) declined 3.57% or 0.120 points to end at 3.240 and Mineral Resources Ltd (AX:MIN) shed 2.82% or 0.520 points to 17.950.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 634 to 555 and 388 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 10.67% to 11.935.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.21% or 2.80 to $1301.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $70.53 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.23 to trade at $78.56 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.15% to 0.7565, while AUD/JPY rose 0.12% to 82.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.88.
