Aurumin Ltd (ASX:AUN) has expanded its footprint adjacent to the 881,000-ounce Sandstone Gold Project through the grant of three new tenements at which the company hopes to source further gold mineralisation.
Tenements E57/1294, E57/1302 and E57/1371 have been granted at Sandstone, which is part of Aurumin’s Sandstone Operations also including the Birrigrin and Johnson Range projects with a total resource of 946,000 ounces.
Minimal exploration has been carried out on the tenements to date with Aurumin planning to begin on-ground exploration activities shortly.
“Good, prospective additions”
Aurumin's managing director Brad Valiukas said: "We are pleased to be solidifying our footprint in the Sandstone region with these tenement grants.
"These are good, prospective additions to our exploration ground, including directly adjacent to Aurumin’s existing mining tenements.”
About the tenements
Tenement E57/1294 adjoins Aurumin’s Central Sandstone mining tenements to the northeast and contains the Hacks Creek Structure running NNW through the length of the tenement.
E57/1302 and E57/1371 further consolidate the greenstone trend that hosts the Bellchambers, Bulchina and Golden Raven mineralisation.
The latter contains the historical Muriel Chapman mine which was worked in the early 1900s and reported 106 tonnes at 15.1 g/t for 51.5 ounces.
Minimal exploration
First-pass regional exploration including surface sampling and wide-spaced reconnaissance drilling has been carried out at E57/1294.
Historical surface sampling work has been completed at E57/1302 and E57/1371 with the former largely untested by drilling with only six drill holes known to have been completed to date.
There have been 22 first-pass rotary air blast (RAB) holes completed at E57/1371.
What’s next?
Aurumin is compiling and validating data for the project areas, including data sourced from open file reports and from the historical Troy Resources’ database inherited as part of the Sandstone Project acquisition before beginning on-ground work.
“The company is narrowing its focus to the Sandstone region, following the divestment of Karramindie and with two divestments in progress at Mt Dimer,” Valiukas said.
"We remain committed to generating critical mass for future production at Sandstone.”
