AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX:AKN) has materially increased the mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Koongie Park Copper-Zinc Project in the north of Western Australia, adding 10.8 million tonnes at 0.28% copper, 0.44% zinc, 0.1% lead and 5.4 g/t gold to the existing 8.9 million tonnes resource with a maiden MRE for the Emull deposit.
The new JORC-compliant mineral estimate has more than doubled the total tonnage for the project and brought total metal content at Koongie Park to 120,100 tonnes of copper, 373,400 tonnes of zinc, 46,000 ounces of gold, 11 million ounces of silver and 78,700 tonnes of lead.
Successful year of drilling
AuKing CEO Paul Williams said the release of Emull’s maiden MRE followed a successful drilling program conducted throughout the year and increased the potential to uncover more copper resources from planned drilling in 2023.
“We knew that the copper mineralisation at Emull had the potential to offer significant additional tonnes to the Koongie Park resource base,” he said.
“Emull’s resource tonnes are complementary to Sandiego and Onedin deposits which together provide strong mining development options for Koongie Park.”
Next year AuKing intends to complete a program of follow-up extensional resource drilling both to the northwest and southwest, building toward a resource classification upgrade for the company’s deposits.
