Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Electricity and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Izmir Demir Celik (IS:IZMDC), which rose 10.70% or 0.260 points to trade at 2.690 at the close. Netas Telekomunikasyon AS (IS:NETAS) added 4.64% or 0.39 points to end at 8.79 and Bizim Magazalari (IS:BIZIM) was up 3.38% or 0.48 points to 14.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Park Elek. Madencilik (IS:PRKME), which lost 7.05% or 0.160 points to trade at 2.110 in late trade. Vakif Gmyo (IS:VKGYO) declined 5.49% or 0.130 points to end at 2.240 and Bagfas (IS:BAGFS) shed 4.26% or 0.50 points to 11.23.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 243 to 102 and 57 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.25 to $1351.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.94% or 0.83 to hit $41.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.76% or 0.79 to trade at $44.19 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.40% to 2.9555, while EUR/TRY rose 0.08% to 3.3023.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.64.
