Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 7.26% or 3.470 points to trade at 51.250 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.26% or 0.55 points to end at 44.22 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.81% or 0.280 points to 34.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which lost 1.57% or 1.80 points to trade at 112.60 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.01% or 0.69 points to end at 67.92 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) shed 0.64% or 0.70 points to 108.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 68 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.40 to $1247.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.34% or 0.65 to hit $47.76 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 0.76 to trade at $47.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1200, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7742.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 95.39.
