Arrow Minerals Ltd (ASX:AMD) has leveraged historical geophysical data from the Simandou North Iron Project in Guinea to identify five new priority zones for potential hematite mineralisation.

Each of these five zones is between 5 and 7 kilometres in strike length, demonstrating characteristics consistent with hematite development within the iron-bearing lithologies (geological layers) of the target zones.

The company intends to investigate the target zones with a maiden drilling program on the project this quarter, the completion of which will also contribute to Arrow’s earning rights toward a 60.5% controlling interest in the project.

Results highlight hematite potential

“It is extremely exciting to see these modelling results in combination with the recent field geology highlighting the potential of the Simandou North area,” Arrow Minerals managing director Hugh Bresser said.

“This includes 7-kilometre-long near-surface geophysical anomalies modelled coincident with mapped iron-bearing lithological units.

“All this in an area where infrastructural developments are underway. Our next step is to mobilise the drill rigs and start testing these high-quality targets.”

The Simandou North Iron Project is at the northern end of the Simandou Range and forms an extension of the stratigraphy that hosts one of the largest undeveloped high-grade iron deposits in the world.

This includes WCS’s Block 1 & 2 with a reported measured, indicated and inferred mineral resource of 1.8 billion tonnes at 65.4% iron and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) Simfer’s Simandou Project Block 3 & 4 with a total measured, indicated and inferred mineral resource estimate of 2 billion tonnes grading 65.5% iron.
