Anthropic, an emerging leader in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, is reportedly in advanced discussions to raise US$750 million in a funding round.
This significant financial boost, led by Menlo Ventures, could propel the company's valuation to an impressive US$15 billion, excluding the investment.
According to a recent report by The Information, the final valuation could even surpass $18 billion, highlighting the growing investor confidence in Anthropic's potential.
About Anthropic
Notably, Anthropic's AI models, particularly the Claude AI series, have been competing for market prominence against OpenAI's GPT series.
The startup has already secured significant investments from major tech companies. Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) have committed substantial funds, agreeing to invest up to $2 billion and $4 billion, respectively, in recent months.
Additionally, there had been intriguing developments between Anthropic and OpenAI.
In November, Reuters reported that OpenAI's board of directors had considered a potential leadership change and even a merger with Anthropic amid Open AI's brief feud and expulsion of CEO Sam Altman.
