Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd subsidiary Sportspass has entered into a strategic partnership with Euroleague Basketball in the hope of redefining fan engagement in the sports industry.

Captivating Gen Z

It is hoped the collaboration will enhance Euroleague Basketball's gamification strategy by integrating the cutting-edge Sportspass fan engagement and gaming platform.

The partnership aims to develop a Euroleague-themed gaming platform tailored to captivate the Gen Z demographic by merging the dynamic world of sports with immersive digital experiences.

This platform will offer an array of game experiences, rewards and in-game collectables, creating a unique blend of sports culture and digital interaction.

Animoca Brands brings to the table an extensive portfolio of more than 400 investments in Web3 projects.

The initiative underscores Euroleague Basketball's commitment to gamification as a core element of its digital strategy, a domain where it has already seen exponential growth.

Triple-digit year-on-year increase

In 2023, the league's fantasy games portfolio witnessed a triple-digit year-on-year increase, engaging a community of 4.3 million fans.

Euroleague Basketball Marketing and Communication senior director Alex Ferrer Kristjansson said: "We are delighted to join forces with Web3 leaders Sportspass to expand our gamification offering.

“The digital ecosystem is key to expanding the EuroLeague brand and offers new ways for young fans to interact with the league.
