Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd has joined forces with The RugbyDAO in a strategic partnership set to bring new opportunities to the Web3 space and enhance the rugby fan experience.

The company says this collaboration represents a “significant milestone in the convergence of blockchain technology and Rugby”, combining Animoca Brands’ Web3 expertise with The RugbyDAO's decentralised approach to the sport of rugby.

Animoca Brands and The RugbyDAO plan to introduce initiatives and offerings designed to change how fans, players, and clubs experience rugby.

Fans will have the opportunity to engage through Web3 communities, contribute to projects, and earn rewards, deepening their connection to the sport.

Bringing rugby to the metaverse

"Partnering with The RugbyDAO allows us to bring the benefits of blockchain technology and NFTs to the world of rugby,” Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chair Yat Sui said.

“By combining our expertise in blockchain products with The RugbyDAO's innovative approach to the decentralised support of rugby, we believe we will create unparalleled experiences for rugby fans and players and ensure that this amazing sport is entrenched in the open metaverse."

The partnership intends to explore immersive gaming experiences using Animoca Brands' portfolio of blockchain-based games.

Rugby fans can look forward to “exciting gameplay, competitions, and rewards designed to deepen their connection with the sport they love”.

The aim is to attract new audiences to rugby while improving the experience for existing fans, who number more than 800 million around the world.

"This partnership with Animoca Brands will enable us to unlock the true potential of rugby by embracing the transformative power of blockchain technology,” The RugbyDAO co-founder Wade Cawood said.

“Together, we will create a new era for the sport, offering fans unprecedented opportunities to engage with their favourite teams and players."
