In a move to bolster its presence in the US and tap into the potential of its rare earth operations, American Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:ARR, OTCQB:ARRNF) has appointed Donald S Swartz II as its new CEO, effective August 1.
Forging into US
The appointment comes as American Rare Earths continues to strengthen its position in the global rare earths market.
With more than two decades of leadership experience in the domestic and international resource sector, Swartz brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He is renowned for his adeptness in devising and executing successful strategies that have led to significant revenue growth in the mining industry.
"The board is thrilled to welcome Donald Swartz as our new CEO at this critical juncture," remarked American Rare Earths chairman Creagh O’Connor.
"His exceptional mining acumen and proven leadership make him the ideal candidate to lead the company in its next phase of development.
“We have full confidence that under his guidance, American Rare Earths will take a prominent position in the global rare earths market."
Gibbs’ know-how retained
Swartz's appointment marks a significant transition for the company. He takes over from Chris Gibbs, who served as the CEO for almost two years. In his new capacity as non-executive director and consultant, Gibbs’ expertise will remain with the company, including his extensive knowledge of North American mining.
"Chris Gibbs has been instrumental in advancing the world-class Halleck Creek project and driving further exploration in the region," said O'Connor.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to him and look forward to his valuable contributions as a non-executive director."
Swartz said: "I am excited to join American Rare Earths at this crucial time.
"The company's rare earth assets offer immense potential and we are uniquely positioned to become a global leader in the rare earths market.
"I am eager to collaborate with Mel Sanderson, president North America, and the rest of the team to drive the commercialisation of these assets and secure the company's success."
A career in mining
Prior to his appointment at American Rare Earths, Swartz served as senior vice president for Vista Energy Holdings, where he successfully developed two mining projects, both of which are now fully operational in Canada.
Throughout his career, Swartz has held various leadership roles in the mining industry, including positions at Westmoreland Coal Company, John T Boyd Company and Consol Energy.
With a new CEO at the helm, American Rare Earths is poised to embark on a new chapter of growth and expansion in the US.
The company's decision to establish its corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado, further underscores the region's significance in proximity to ARR’s flagship operation in Halleck Creek, Wyoming.
