Alien Metals Ltd (AIM:UFO, OTC:ASLRF) said it completed a reverse circulation drilling programme at its Elizabeth Hill silver project and Munni Munni platinum group elements (PGE) project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

The AIM-traded company said the sulphides observed in drill holes confirmed the continuation of mineralising structures, while initial portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) results indicate above background concentrations of both base metals and silver.

Wide zones of alteration encountered indicated continuity of silver hosting structures, it added.

"This extensional exploration drilling at depth and along strike of known metal occurrences strengthens the teams understanding of the geology and mineralised system as well as proving the expanded potential of Australia's highest grade historical silver mine,” said executive chairman Rod McIllree.

“In addition, new ideas have been tested for base metal concentrations along the main Munni Munni fault on which the Elizabeth Hill silver deposit also sits.”

Follow up work is now being planned at both projects.

The historical Elizabeth Hill mine produced 1.2Moz of silver at 2,195 grammes per tonne silver from underground between 1999-2000.
