Accelerate Resources Ltd (ASX:AX8) has confirmed extended lithium mineralisation at Prinsep Lithium Project in Western Australia's West Pilbara region, setting the stage for imminent drilling activities.
Rock chips reveal strong lithium
Prinsep, conveniently situated near Karratha and in the same region as Azure Minerals' Andover discovery, has turned up some promising assay results from recent rock chip sampling, which point to potential within the burgeoning Karratha-Roebourne lithium belt.
The latest sampling efforts have expanded the known lithium mineralisation trend to 1.5 kilometres along the northern pegmatite zone, with assays peaking at 1.51% lithium oxide (Li2O).
Detailed infill sampling within this zone has delineated a 60-metre-wide mineralised pegmatite outcrop over a 650-metre length, featuring concentrations up to 1.68% Li2O.
There were several other samples exceeding 1% of Li2O, with the highest being 1.66%.
"Continue to be excited"
CEO Luke Meter said: “We continue to be excited by the high-grade lithium results from our recently completed sampling activities at the Prinsep Project, which is located in the Karratha-Roebourne hard-rock lithium belt that also hosts Azure Minerals’ Andover lithium discovery.
“Results from the four north-south rock chip sample traverses over the Prinsep northern pegmatite, as well as extensional sampling, have now extended the known mineralisation at Prinsep beyond 1,500 metres.
Continuity and scale
“Importantly, these latest assays continue to clearly demonstrate the continunity and potential scale of the Prinsep Lithium discovery in the West Pilbara, which gives us great confidence and momentum as we advance towards our maiden drilling program scheduled for early Q2 this year.”
This exploration breakthrough at Prinsep will enhance the company’s portfolio of broader Karratha lithium projects, which span some 90 square kilometres of high-potential land.
The Prinsep Lithium Project stands out for its proximity to significant regional infrastructure and notable neighbouring lithium discoveries, including the Andover Lithium Project.
Concerted exploration efforts commenced in mid-January, focusing on the northern pegmatite trend's mineralisation continuity and variability.
The initial phase involved systematic rock chip sampling across the identified pegmatite outcrop, yielding encouraging results that affirm the zone's high mineralisation potential.
Preparatory work
Accelerate is now gearing up for a maiden drilling program targeted for early Q2 2024.
The company is in the final stages of procuring drilling consumables and infrastructure, securing necessary permits and engaging with traditional owners to finalise the Native Title Agreement, so it will be ready to strike as soon as the regulatory approvals are in.
