Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 4.40% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.15 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 0.52% or 0.26 points to end at 48.97 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 0.34% or 0.15 points to 43.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 2.46% or 0.119 points to trade at 4.715 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 2.25% or 0.48 points to end at 20.86 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 2.07% or 0.220 points to 10.410.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 120 to 40 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.18% to 22.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.81% or 1.46 to $36.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 4.02% or 1.62 to hit $38.71 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.55% or 19.10 to trade at $1216.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1397, while EUR/GBP rose 1.14% to 0.8015.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 94.61.
