Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon (AS:AEGN), which rose 4.62% or 0.161 points to trade at 3.646 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.99% or 1.455 points to end at 50.050 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 2.65% or 0.149 points to 5.768 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 3.00% or 1.67 points to trade at 53.99 in late trade. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) declined 0.03% or 0.03 points to end at 98.90 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) gained 0.33% or 0.07 points to 22.54.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 123 to 37 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.41% to 16.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.91% or 0.38 to $41.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.79% or 0.35 to hit $43.94 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.72% or 23.50 to trade at $1343.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1083, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8480.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.22.
