SYDNEY, April 28 (Reuters) - The New Zealand dollar jumped more than half a U.S. cent on Thursday as investors cut bearish positions after the Reserve Bank of New Zealand skipped a chance to cut interest rates.
The kiwi climbed as far as $0.6935 NZD=D4 , from around $0.6850 in reaction to the policy decision. Markets were giving around a 50-50 chance of a cut.
The RBNZ kept the cash rate at a record low 2.25 percent but left a clear easing bias. It also said the currency remained higher than appropriate.
