Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 2.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ARM Holdings PLC (LONDON:ARM), which rose 5.99% or 55.50 points to trade at 982.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Johnson Matthey PLC (LONDON:JMAT) added 4.84% or 116.00 points to end at 2514.00 and St. James`s Place PLC (LONDON:SJP) was up 4.42% or 37.00 points to 873.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL), which fell 1.58% or 9.90 points to trade at 614.70 at the close. Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) declined 1.41% or 1.3900 points to end at 97.2200 and Antofagasta PLC (LONDON:ANTO) was down 1.07% or 5.50 points to 506.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1643 to 502 and 451 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anglo American PLC (LONDON:AAL) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.58% or 9.90 to 614.70. Shares in Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) fell to all time lows; falling 1.41% or 1.3900 to 97.2200. Shares in Antofagasta PLC (LONDON:ANTO) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.07% or 5.50 to 506.00.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.68% or 7.90 to $1145.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.20% or 0.54 to hit $45.45 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $48.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.42% to 1.5176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.7380.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 96.39.
