Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.42% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 1.67% or 0.064 points to trade at 3.894 at the close. Meanwhile, Unipol (MI:UNPI) added 1.66% or 0.076 points to end at 4.668 and Saipem (MI:SPMI) was up 1.53% or 0.1150 points to 7.6250 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Moncler SpA (MI:MONC), which fell 3.10% or 0.45 points to trade at 14.05 at the close. Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) declined 1.92% or 0.0220 points to end at 1.1220 and Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) was down 1.61% or 0.2000 points to 12.2000.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 279 to 134 and 10 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.97% or 0.36 to $36.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.11% or 0.45 to hit $39.66 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.55% or 5.90 to trade at $1070.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.0947, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.7214.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 97.84.
