Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Beverages & Tobacco, Trading and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Namunukula Plantations PLC (CM:NAMU), which rose 20.00% or 12.00 points to trade at 72.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL) added 19.89% or 3.50 points to end at 21.10 and Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD) was up 18.52% or 2499.900 points to 15999.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which fell 24.42% or 329.60 points to trade at 1020.20 at the close. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) declined 15.39% or 400.10 points to end at 2200.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was down 11.11% or 0.10 points to 0.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 159 to 49 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 24.42% or 329.60 to 1020.20. Shares in Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD) rose to 52-week highs; up 18.52% or 2499.900 to 15999.900.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 3.30% or 1.04 to $30.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 3.17% or 1.08 to hit $33.16 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.27% or 3.00 to trade at $1125.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.90% to 207.270, while USD/LKR fell 0.25% to 143.695.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 99.00.
